A mining blast devastated a historic ancestral hall in southern China.

Dramatic video filmed in Huizhou City in Guangdong Province on February 25, shows a deluge of rocks of varying sizes tumbling down from a mountaintop, engulfing a grey building at the foothills in dust and debris.

The ancestral hall suffered severe structural damage, with its courtyard strewn with rubble and its walls bearing gaping holes from the impact of the falling boulders.

Mr. Deng, a resident of Dawei Village in Longmen County, revealed on February 26 that the ravaged structure seen in the footage belonged to the Deng family, a site frequented by villagers for worship and ceremonies.

Officials from the Pingling Street Office of Longmen County confirmed no casualties in the incident, with local emergency services and law enforcement swiftly dispatched to manage the situation on-site.

Records indicate that reconstruction of the Deng family ancestral hall began on April 12, 2016, at a cost exceeding 1.8 million yuan (£200,000) and spanned over a year. Yinhai Mining Co., Ltd., established on January 19, 2006, operates within the retail sector, specialising in the extraction, crushing, and sale of limestone.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
