This is the shocking moment a winery thief spilled 2.3 million Euros worth of wine in Spain.

CCTV footage shows the hooded crook opening vat taps, sending a jet of expensive wine flooding the Cepa 21 winery in Valladolid, Spain, in the early hours of February 18.

He then proceeded to open the tap of another vat before fleeing the scene.

The winery owner Jose Moro, a renowned winemaker in Spain, said around 60,000 litres of Horcajo and Malabrigo wines - both made from Tempranillo grapes - were lost in the incident.

He told local media the trespasser was likely familiar with the facility, as he knew how to operate the tanks and 'moved fluently'.

He said: 'He entered and immediately opened the valve of five tanks. Fortunately, in that row, there were only three filled ones.'

Jose lamented the financial loss amounting to around 2.3 million Euros and said he has complained with the Civil Guard.

He said: 'As an entrepreneur, all I can do is move forward and gather even more strength so that prestigious wines like Horcajo and Malabrigo have an even greater presence in the market.

'Let's hope everything is resolved.'
