Residents chase away rampaging leopard that injured five in Indian
This is the heart-stopping moment residents chased away a leopard rampaging through a village in India.
The wild cat had wandered into the residential area, attacking a woman before pouncing on two men in the Udaipur District of Rajasthan state on February 22.
Footage shows the beast leaping onto a local and knocking him over. It then turned its fury on another man, who bravely fought it off with several punches.
Despite suffering bites from the wild animal, the men managed to drive the leopard away from the neighbourhood.
Local media reported five people were injured, including a woman who had severe wounds and is now recovering at a hospital.
The Forest Department has mobilised a team, which successfully tranquilised the leopard later that evening and took it to the Sajjangarh Biological Park.
The incident is the latest in a string of recent leopard encounters in India.
On January 30, a wild leopard sparked panic when it entered a family's bedroom before escaping into a nearby forest in Bihar.
While on February 11, another leopard ventured into a village in Uttarakhand and mauled three forest rangers trying to capture it.
The development of homes in and around forests has lead to an increase in the number of leopard sightings in recent years.
