Prop knife blade flying off stage narrowly misses performer in northern China
A prop knife's blade flying off a stage narrowly missed a performer in northern China.
The terrifying video was filmed in Xi'an in Shaanxi Province on February 25.
The male actor looked bewildered as he held only the handle of the knife, but quickly persevered to complete the performance.
On February 26th, the actor in question, Liu Jiangtao, responded, stating that the show was called "The Rise of the Tang Empire", in which he played a guard. He explained that all props had been checked before going on stage, and during the performance involving martial arts movements, he might have gotten carried away, causing the prop knife to break.
Liu said, "I was too panicked! Extremely nervous and embarrassed. But the martial arts sequence had already begun, so I had no choice but to continue with a 'no real object performance.' The production team has now replaced the broken knife with a new one for me.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
