A plane passenger recorded the launch of India's historic Chandrayaan-3.

Footage shows the spacecraft reaching about 35,000ft above ground when it was spotted by the flyer from the window seat on July 14.

The successful launch of the Chandrayaan-3 mission took place at around 2:35 pm on Friday July 14, when the moon vehicle took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

With bated breath, India creates history as Chandrayaan-3's lunar lander 'Vikram' landed on the moon's south pole on August 23 around 6:03 pm IST, 40 days after its launch.

After a successful landing on the moon, India became the fourth country to achieve the remarkable feat after the US, China and Russia, formerly the Soviet Union.

The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft also had a rover and a propulsion module in addition to the lander.
