An owner chased away a monitor lizard that he caught feasting on his koi fish.

The resident heard rumbling sounds from the pond at the back of his home and when he checked it, the lid was shaking and partially opened with the wild animal already inside.

CCTV footage shows the man removing the pool's cover and using a stick to scare the reptile out of his property in Bangkok, Thailand.

He eventually caught it by its tail and carried it hanging upside down to the front of his home.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
