In a heroic act on February 26, Denton police officers successfully rescued a woman trapped inside an overturned vehicle after it veered off a bridge.

The incident unfolded around 2:29 am when a concerned 911 caller reported a vehicle plunging off a bridge along I-35W, just south of Vintage Boulevard. Officers Hupp and Lopez swiftly initiated a search and located the overturned vehicle submerged in a creek.

Upon spotting the vehicle, the officers immediately sprang into action, calling out to anyone inside. Responding to the sound of the woman honking the horn, they wasted no time shedding their gear and entering the water to offer assistance.

Officer Lopez bravely broke the rear driver’s side window, enabling the extraction of the trapped woman, who was alone in the vehicle. With coordinated efforts, both officers safely escorted her to dry ground.

Medical personnel attended to the woman for non-life-threatening injuries. Concurrently, authorities have initiated a DWI investigation related to the incident.
