Police are hunting a Taiwanese gang includig four Thai woman suspected of murdering a Taiwanese fugitive in Thailand.

The group - four Taiwanese men and a Thai woman - reportedly shot Shih Mou Chiang, 44, multiple times in the head before dumping his corpse at an abandoned food stall in Samut Prakan, on the outskirts of Bangkok, on February 25.

They then allegedly fled to Sa Kaeo province and crossed the border into Poipet in Cambodia before shocked locals found Shih Mou Chiang lying in a pool of blood in the deserted stall near the Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Police Lieutenant General Jirasan Kaewsang-ek, commissioner of the Region 1 Provincial Police Bureau, said investigations are underway to locate the gang.

He said: 'The investigation team has successfully identified the license plate number and the owner of the red Mazda used to transport the dead man's body. The vehicle belonged to a Thai woman from Pathum Thani.

'The car travelled to the food stall via the Lat Krabang road at around 3 am.

'They dumped the body there, then fled via the highway toward the Ban Klong Luk Border Checkpoint in Sa Kaeo province. Border officers did not stop them because there was no warrant out for them at the time.'

The owner of the red Mazda was identified by police as Piyanuch Thammarat, 23, said to be the girlfriend of the murdered Taiwanese man, and the tenant of the luxury house in Lat Phrao, Bangkok where the murder reportedly took place.

Police said Shih Mou Chiang had been hiding in Thailand to escape charges of robbery and illegal possession of firearms in his home country.

Investigations found that he arrived by motorcycle at the house at around 2 am on February 25, with the gang arriving an hour later.

Neighbours reported hearing gunshots in the wee hours of the morning, shortly before seeing the red Mazda driving away from the property.

Officers said the murder may have been motivated by illegal business, drugs, or infighting in the gang.

Shih Mou Chiang was found near the Suvarnabhumi Airport later on Sunday morning with a bullet wound on his left temple, and another at the base of his left ear.

He was heavily tattooed and clad in a black shirt and jeans with 3,000 baht in his pockets.

Nearby, the red Mazda used to transport the corpse was also discovered.

The body was taken to the Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Cambodian police on Tuesday arrested the Thai woman Piyanuch in Poipet and detained her for questioning.

The other suspects, identified as Peng Yuan Hau, 43, Hung Teng Wang, 42, Yu Fan Chou, 24, and Kuang Yuan Lin, 36, were still at large.

Three of them were still in Cambodia, while one had already flown back to Taiwan.

Deputy national police chief Police General Thana Chuwong told local media: 'Although the murder was a violent crime committed by foreigners against each other in Thailand, the Thai police will speed up the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.'
