Controversy surrounds world's largest sky-net-like amusement park amid safety concerns
The world's largest sky-net-like amusement park project named "Sky Magic Net" has come under public scrutiny for safety concerns in eastern China.
The video was filmed in Yongkang City in Zhejiang Province on February 23. A green net spread out in the sky at a height of 100 metres, connected by a bridge between two cliffs. The net is painted with the colours of a football field, and many children are seen jumping and playing on it. From above, one can see a large pond on the ground through the net.
The "Sky Magic Net" amusement facility is located in the Goose Brigade Adventure Park in Xiuyan Village, Tangxian Town, Yongkang City. It opened to the public in October 2023, stands 200 metres above the ground, covering an area of 1600 square metres.
In January this year, it was certified by the "Carrying the Flag World Records" as the "world's largest sky-net-like amusement park".
The net-like structure of the park is divided into two levels, with high-density polyethylene material used for construction. The upper level is for visitors to play on while the lower level serves as a safety barrier.
To ensure safety, it can accommodate up to 50 people simultaneously. Visitors can not only play on the magic net but also enjoy a thrilling view of the hundred-metre-deep cliff bottom through it, which boosts adrenaline levels. During this year's Chinese New Year holidays, "Sky Magic Net" has become a popular destination for locals.
Xue Shuangwei, the deputy general manager of the Goose Brigade Tourism Development Co., Ltd., stated, "Currently, the amusement park provides yoga balls and small balloons for throwing. Children are extremely happy here, and adults find it hard to leave. Even adults can feel like they're reliving their childhood. Just lying in the sun on the net is very comfortable."
Ms.Yang, a citizen who came to experience it, excitedly remarked, "A huge net is stretched between two mountain peaks, completely exceeding my expectations." She added, "At first glance, it's very large and high. Jumping on it is very interesting, very dynamic, especially like a trampoline."
Regarding the safety concerns about this 200-metre-high sky-net-like amusement park, a staff member of the amusement park stated on February 23rd that this facility is definitely safe, and visitors can come and experience it themselves.
"We can responsibly say that this facility is definitely safe. Who would treat their life as a child's play? If it were an unsafe project, it wouldn't be placed there." they said.
As for safety concerns, the local market supervision and management department stated that whether "Sky Magic Net" belongs to special equipment amusement facilities needs further verification based on relevant information.
