A resident grappled with a 10ft-long python he caught hiding from a neighbour's car fender.

Guadiosio Erana, 58, extracted the snake from the vehicle parked in the streets, but it resisted as he carried it to the open area in Batangas province, the Philippines, on February 20.

Footage shows the local gripping the reptile on its head as it wriggled its body in a bid to escape from the man.

Guadiosio helped turn over the serpent to authorities who had taken it to their facility before release.

His wife Leonora said: ‘My husband knows how to handle snakes, so our neighbours always call him for help when they see one.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
