Toxic caterpillar that looks like Lord of the Rings Demon 'Balrog' found on woman's car
A toxic caterpillar that looks like a ‘Lord of the Rings monster’ clung on to a woman’s car for more than an hour.
When Laurie Cook stopped driving in Macon, Georgia, USA, she was surprised to find an odd-looking insect had been hanging on to her bonnet.
Interesting footage shows the caterpillar crawling along the blue paintwork and the creature resembled Balrog, a demon from J.R.R. Tolkien’s books.
Fortunately Laurie didn’t try to move the hag moth caterpillar from her vehicle, as the insects are toxic to touch.
Laurie said: “It was a bit scary to look at. I had definitely not seen anything like it before.
“It stayed on the car approximately one hour. I’m glad I decided not to touch it. I found out through posting in an entomology group that it was a hag moth caterpillar and was toxic to touch.”
