In a shocking revelation, a smuggling ring dedicated to illegally exporting defense material to Saudi Arabia has been dismantled by the Spanish Civil Guard. The illegal exports included engines for tanks and spare parts for armored troop transport vehicles, amounting to a total value of 2.8 million euros.

Part of the defense material illegally exported was used in armored vehicles involved in the war in Yemen.

The operation, known as "Sabra," has resulted in the arrest of one individual and the investigation of another for their alleged involvement in a continuous offense of smuggling defense material. The arrested individual used a company owned by him in Malaga to carry out numerous exports without the necessary transfer licenses from the Spanish trade authorities, fraudulently declaring the shipments as civilian truck parts.

Furthermore, the investigation uncovered that, in addition to supplying engines and military spare parts, the company also provided technical assistance for the modernization of numerous armored vehicles belonging to the Saudi Armed Forces. These vehicles were later used in the conflict in Yemen, in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions aimed at de-escalating the ongoing war.
