Chilling moment explosion rocks popular eatery in southern India, investigation underway

Rameshwaram Cafe, a popular eatery in southern India's Karnataka was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

This cafe is located in Whitefield, Bengaluru and this incident took place on March 1.

CCTV footage captured the chilling moment when the explosion took place. It all seemed a pretty normal day at the cafe with the staff walking about inside the premises. Some customers were also seated in the cafe. In a matter of seconds, the footage shows the blast take place which is seen by a bright flash of light. And as the light dissipates, the wreckage caused by the blast is seen wherein the whole area turned into a tragic scene. The tables were turned and one of the customers laid on one side in pain. There was a big cloud of smoke everywhere from this massive explosion. And some people later were seen moving about in the area in panic.

In another, a suspected man, wearing a cap and carrying a bag was seen passing by.

After the blast a huge crowd gathered near the incident spout.

According to a report, the blast was caused by a man who as per the police, put his bag inside the cafe and left the spot. Subsequently the blast followed after an hour of him leaving the cafe. The police have however been able to detain a man who was seen with the suspect and is being questioned.

The explosion resulted in injuries to 10 people which included both the staff as well as customers. The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment and the cafe was visited later by officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for inspection. The cops have also levied the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act in this case.
