In a spine-chilling road accident, a school bus was seen running over two children as they were crossing the road in western India's Maharashtra.

This incident happened in Amol Nagar Colony, Naigaon West, Palgarh on March 1.

Visuals from CCTV footage captured the chilling moment when the bus ran over the two children. The children were crossing the road when the bus took a turn in their direction and mowed down the two. The children then were crushed by the wheels of the bus as the vehicle went on to stop after this accident. The driver came out of the bus and looked below the vehicle to retrieve the child while others ran to the spot to come to their aid.

According to a report, the siblings were two sisters aged between two to seven years and they were taken out from underneath the vehicle by the driver. The two children were then rushed to the hospital with cops involved in investigating the accident.

The older sister, who sustained a right leg fracture in the accident, is recovering at a Vasai hospital following surgery. According to Dilshad Ansari, the victims' uncle, a rod has been implanted in her leg, while the younger sister has internal injuries affecting her liver and numerous bruises. The incident occurred as they were en route to a nearby Kirana shop from their ground-floor residence, which was captured on CCTV.

The older sibling is receiving treatment at a hospital in Vasai, while the younger one has been transferred to a private facility in Mira Road. Both are reportedly in stable condition, as per Ansari. The bus driver, who was identified as the owner of the vehicle involved, has been the subject of an FIR filed by Manikpur police. He was briefly detained and subsequently released with instructions to cooperate with the investigation.

Reports suggest that the bus driver has been assisting the family financially to cover medical expenses. Raju Mane, senior inspector of Manikpur police station, confirmed the registration of an FIR against the driver and the serving of a notice under section 41A of
of CrPC.
