Over 70 Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers and staff participated in the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, bringing glitz and glamour to the streets of Oxford Street. The RFS team showcased their creativity and enthusiasm through their truck design, inspired by futuristic Hollywood movies.

The eye-catching truck was adorned with a brilliant silver mirror wrap and featured coloured smoke pumping through silver tubing, captivating the audience with its dazzling display. Delighting the crowd with a nostalgic touch, the design also paid tribute to the iconic Aussie classic, 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert', which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

In a playful twist, the truck replaced the bus' legendary stiletto with a dazzling fireboot, showcasing a unique blend of modern and classic elements. The RFS volunteers and staff expressed their gratitude for the warm reception, spreading joy and positivity during the lively parade.

As the festivities continued, the RFS team shared their message of inclusion and support for the LGBTQ+ community, embodying the spirit of unity and celebration that defines the Mardi Gras festivities. The dazzling display and enthusiastic participation highlighted the RFS's commitment to diversity and community engagement, making a memorable impact on all those who joined in the revelry.
