STORYLINE:

Dozens of classic cars zoomed along a highway in Cairo, Egypt on Friday, as part of a grand vintage car cruise.

The event, organized by the Classic Cars Community in Egypt, attracted more than 65 vintage vehicles of all kinds, from vintage Volkswagen Beatles to classic Mercedes, all made before 1985.

The cruise was a celebration of Egypt's rich and diverse vintage auto heritage, as well as a chance for classic car enthusiasts to mingle and marvel at each other's prized possessions.

"Today's event features the largest vintage car rally in Egypt, and the number of participants is unprecedented. We held this event to highlight Egypt's strength in the field of classic cars and let people know about it."

The convoy drove for several kilometers on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, drawing the attention and admiration of other drivers and passers-by.

Ahmed al-Sherbiny joined the event for the first time with his 1971 Fiat 124 Spider.

"I bought this vintage car and undertook a full restoration entirely on my own. I have a passion for acquiring such vehicles and restoring them to their original condition. Some of my friends wish to start this hobby, but what hinders them is the cost and time involved. Finding a specific classic car model to buy can take years for some of us."
