The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Truckee has released a video showing the treacherous conditions on the roads due to a Blizzard warning that remains in effect in the Sierras until Sunday. The recent snowstorm has led to a traffic nightmare over Donner Summit, with no signs of improvement in the immediate forecast. Authorities are urging caution and have advised against any unnecessary travel.
As of 6:10 a.m. on March 1st, chain control restrictions are in place across multiple highways in the region. The latest updates include:
Interstate 80: R2 restrictions are in effect in both directions from the Nevada State line to Drum Forebay.
State Route 89: R2 restrictions are in place from Truckee to Olympic Valley.
State Route 267: R2 restrictions are enforced from Northstar to Kings Beach.
State Route 28: R2 restrictions apply from Tahoe City to Kings Beach.
Additionally, trucks are facing maximum restrictions, further complicating travel in the area.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on the latest road conditions before embarking on any journeys.
