Exhausted Hikers Airlifted to Safety from Treacherous Mount Bogong Terrain in Victoria, Australia
This footage was filmed and produced 3 March 2024.
Two hikers were rescued by helicopter after becoming physically exhausted while hiking on Mount Bogong in Victoria, Australia. The two men, aged 63 and 71, called for a welfare check on Saturday evening, prompting the dispatch of Air Wing and Search and Rescue Squad officers.
The experienced hikers had misjudged the difficult terrain and decided to call for help. Search and Rescue Squad officers determined that the men had enough supplies and experience to remain safe overnight. A plan was put in place for Air Wing officers to airlift the pair to safety the following morning.
The men were successfully winched to safety at around 9.30am on Sunday, 3rd March. Paramedics checked on the hikers, but both were found to be in good health and did not require any treatment.
