A dormitory's bathroom was sealed in thick ice after the water pipe froze and burst in southern China.

The video was filmed in Ganzi Prefecture in Sichuan Province on March 4. The bathroom door of a faculty dormitory was found encased in ice.

According to a teacher named Liu, the chilling sight greeted her upon her return to school after the winter break. Situated at an altitude of more than 4000 metres in a high-altitude pastoral region, the school fell victim to the harsh cold weather, resulting in burst pipe during the winter break.

As water leaked from the pipe, it froze, gradually accumulating into a layer of ice nearly 1.5 metres high, forming what locals have dubbed the "ice door" of the bathroom.

Liu and her colleagues were left with no choice but to shatter the glass pane of the bathroom door and scatter copious amounts of salt on the ice to aid in its melting.

It took nearly a full day of relentless effort to chip away at the ice and clear the passage.
