Malaysia Coast Guard helicopter crashes into sea during drills
This is the dramatic moment a Malaysia Coast Guard helicopter crashed into the sea during drills this morning.
The AgustaWestland AW139, registered M72-01, operated by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) departed from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Selangor for a training flight on March 5.
However, it was later seen plunging into the choppy waters off Pulau Angsa island at around 10 am local time.
Footage shows the aircraft crashing with a large splash as it nosedived into the sea amid overcast skies.
No casualties were reported as the four people on board were rescued by passing fishermen.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said in a statement: 'Last contact made by the aircraft with air traffic control was at 9.20 am, however, there was no distress call received. Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre at Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre was immediately activated to determine the location of the helicopter.
'A total of four persons including pilots were onboard and there were no fatalities reported. All survivors were rescued by a rescue helicopter and landed in Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport at 10.58 am.'
An investigation is being conducted by the MMEA.
