A conference on how to use artificial intelligence (AI) in African media opened Monday in Yaounde, the capital city of Cameroon.
Organized by the African Union of Broadcasting, a professional body composed of national radio and television organizations of African states, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the conference brought together journalists from major African media outlets.
"AI is vital in the modern world and could play an important role in how African media operate. That is why this conference is important to the future of African media," said Cameroon's Minister of Communication Emmanuel Rene Sadi who presided at the opening ceremony of the conference.
The three-day conference will present results of AI research in media and also reflect on how African media could apply AI to their advantage, organizers said.
