A 12-year-old boy showed excellent presence of mind to trap a leopard after it had strayed into an office space in western India's Maharashtra.

This incident took place at the Sai Celebration Wedding Hall in Malegaon, Nashik district, on March 5.

CCTV footage captured the chilling moment when the leopard entered the space with the boy sitting perilously close by. The child was playing games on a mobile phone while seated on a sofa beside the entrance to the room when the leopard silently walked in. Under such circumstances, one is expected to lose their composure and shriek for help. But not this boy. Instead of panicking and freaking out, he calmly and quickly got down from the sofa and walked out of the room while closing the door behind him, ensuring that the leopard was trapped inside. The door wasn't properly shut, though, as he made his way out of the room with the leopard still inside.

In another visual, the unconscious leopard was seen being carried by the officials into a cage on a mini-truck.

Speaking to Newslions, Range Forest Officer Vaibhav Hire said that the boy, named Mohit Ahire, 12, was sitting next to the door of the wedding hall's booking office and managed to escape in time before being noticed by the leopard. The wild animal was seen earlier that morning in a residential area, and forest officials were already on the lookout for it. The forest department officials later reached the spot and tranquilized the five-year-old leopard before capturing it.

The officials involved in the rescue were Sonal Pawar, Atul Deore, Bhanudas Suryawanshi., Yogesh Patil, Ramesh Bagul, Anil thakre, Ravsaheb Sonawane, Akshay Hembade along with Vaibhav Hire.

Presently, the leopard is kept at the Nashik Wildlife Care Center for observation and further treatment.
