Ancient coins unearthed in central India, stirring dispute among locals
The discovery of ancient silver and gold coins during excavation has sparked a dispute among residents in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, leading to police intervention.
The incident took place in the Khallasipura Shinde area of Inderganj in Gwalior on March 5.
Visuals showed in the under-construction house where excavation was underway, a crowd had gathered around, curious about the unfolding events. Meanwhile, in the photos, coins and other artifacts unearthed from the ground were prominently displayed, showcasing the discoveries made during the excavation process.
According to reports during excavation at the residence of Sanjay Pal, some ancient silver and gold coins were found. Currently, the police have seized seven coins from the scene. There is also speculation that some coins were stolen or looted by laborers and neighbors. It has also been revealed that there was a scuffle among the laborers and neighbors over claiming these coins.
The police have currently detained three people for questioning. In fact, Sanjay Pal recently purchased an old-style house. He had employed three laborers to build the house, two of whom found these coins during excavation. Initially, the laborers had wrapped these coins in a bag and tried to quietly take them away. But seeing the actions of the laborers, some neighbors became suspicious, leading to a dispute. After receiving information about the discovery during excavation on Tuesday, the police became active and summoned two laborers along with the house owner to the Inderganj police station for questioning. One neighbor is also being questioned by the police. It has not been determined yet how many coins have been found during the excavation. According to the police, these coins are British colonial and likely made of silver.
