A 31-year-old man has been arrested and sent to prison for manufacturing homemade explosive material of various kinds in the basement of a residential building.

During the three raids - two at homes and one at a garage - the agents found over 60 kilograms of explosive precursors, 200 types of chemicals, half a kilogram of pre-prepared explosive mixtures, laboratory equipment, and 500 fireworks and flares. The suspect also had 25 kilograms of speed - one of the largest seizures in Castilla y Leon - and half a kilogram of various drugs.

A preliminary report from the explosives specialists highlighted the danger of this illegal homemade explosive production workshop, where precursors and chemicals were manipulated and stored in the same space without any safety measures. This posed a serious risk of fire or accidental explosion in a densely populated urban area.

The detainee was brought before the judicial authorities on Monday, March 4, along with the investigation report, and has been ordered to remain in custody.
