A suspected serial rapist who allegedly targeted schoolgirls was arrested in Thailand.

Alleged paedophile Wissanu, who also goes by the name 'Toei', 40, reportedly stalked and preyed on teenagers before he was arrested at his girlfriend's condominium in Bangkok on February 28.

Footage shows armed officers cornering Wissanu in an elevator in the building, cuffing him and frogmarching him back to his room for interrogation.

He was the subject of a warrant issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court on February 9 on charges of invading a house and raping a child below 13 years regardless of consent.

Police Major General Theeradet Thumsuthee, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's investigation division, led the arrest.

Authorities said Wissanu had a preference for young girls in school uniforms. He allegedly raped at least four girls before his arrest this year, though police believe there could be more victims who had not come forward.

Wissanu was previously arrested on two rape charges in 2017 and 2018.

In 2018, he reportedly deceived a schoolgirl by pretending to be a cabbie taking her home - only to drive her to the secluded Krung Thon Bridge in Bangkok where he allegedly assaulted and molested her.

He was released years later, but attacked another girl, 12, in October 2023.

The suspected pervert allegedly stalked the girl and hid in her apartment's fire escape. When she returned home alone, he was said to have dragged her into her room, raped her, and threatened her into silence.

A shocked relative arrived and called the police after finding Wissanu in their home, prompting him to flee. He went into hiding, but was arrested on February 28 in the Bang Sue District of Bangkok.

During questioning, Wissanu said: 'I am a former civil servant and I admit that I have a taste for children. But all them were complicit. Some even took pictures of themselves masturbating for me to see.

'The girls are naughtier than you think. They only reported me because they wanted to create chaos.

'I did not ambush or stalk them. I just know where they live.'

Wissanu was detained at the Thung Maha Mek Police Station for further legal action.

Meanwhile, Police Major General Theeradet said police did not believe the suspect's claims, adding he was not a regular criminal, but a 'serial rapist who is a danger to society'.

Theeradet said: 'We still do not believe in the testimony of this suspect because we have seen how he operates and selects his victims.

'He stalks and follows them until they are alone without their parents or guardian before raping them.

'This criminal has been prosecuted on similar charges many times before. When released from prison, he continued committing crimes.'

He also urged other victims to contact the police via the IDMB Facebook page, and warned parents not to let their children come home alone from school.
