Belarusian tourist lost in Thai jungle found unharmed
A Belarusian tourist lost in a jungle for a night was found unharmed by rescuers in Phuket, Thailand, early Tuesday morning.
Male model Dzmitry Neudakh, 23, was on his way to a hotel in the island's Thalang district, but decided to venture into a nearby forest for an afternoon walk on March 4.
However, what was supposed to be a relaxing stroll soon turned into a nightmare trek when darkness fell with the tourist still wandering through the dense snake-infested woods.
Realising he was lost, Dzmitry called the tourist police hotline at 11:18 pm and informed authorities of his coordinates via GPS.
Rescuers were dispatched to his location, where they found him standing on rocks near the Nai Thon beach at 5:30 am the next morning on March 5.
Police said Dzmitry was uninjured despite spending the night in the wilderness. He was safely taken to his lodging in Layan.
The tourist said he had arrived in Thailand on February 18, and had been staying in Bangkok before arriving in Phuket on March 3. He stayed for one night in the Nai Yang area, and decided to walk to another hotel in Layan on the day of the incident.
He added he had been using a map on his phone, but became lost after venturing into the forest.
He said: 'Thank you so much to the police who helped me. I was hungry and thirsty. I didn't know if they would every find me.'
