A calf was rescued by officials of the Rae Bareli fire department after it had fallen into a dry well in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

This happened in Khojanpur village of Rae Bareli district on March 6.

Visuals showed the rescue operation taking place. Officials of the fire department descended a rope into the well and got it around the calf's body. They then used all their might to pull the bovine out of the deep well. One of the major challenges of this rescue operation was that it was conducted in the dark of the night. But the fire officials ensured that they saved the animal's life.

Bamboo sticks were used to provide support to the rope which was used to pull the animal out. The calf was subsequently seen walking away from the area. Villagers also took part in this rescue operation as Salon fire unit officials took the lead.
