A reptile expert caught a snake family hiding in a resident's bathroom ceiling in Thailand.

Animal handler Ratha Tapianthong received a request from homeowner Jirapat Mangnimit, 35, who found a brood of golden tree snakes nesting in the bathroom of his house in Ang Thong province on March 5.

Footage shows the fearless snake wrangler handling the mildly venomous hatchlings using just her bare hands. She then placed them inside a sack to be released into the wilderness.

Jirapat said he had been hearing the snakes hissing for almost a week whenever he was in the bathroom. He opened up a ceiling panel and beamed a flashlight into the darkness - only to find the hatchlings slithering over the boards.

Ratha said: 'The mother snake had likely laid eggs inside that space. Some of her offspring had already left the house, but five of them were left behind.'

The golden tree snake, also known as Chrysopelea ornata, is a slender-bodied reptile found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its ability to glide through the air, using its flattened body to sail between trees in search of prey.
