An out-of-control truck rear-ended another lorry, causing a pile-up.

The vehicles slowed down for the red light, but a six-wheeler crashed from behind the motorists in Chonburi province, Thailand, on February 8.

Dashcam footage shows the truck hitting the other drivers from behind and catching up to six vehicles in a multiple collision.

According to police, one person was injured and the initial report stated that the truck's brake had malfunctioned.

Dashcam owner Suwattee said: ‘I was shocked when it happened. I was almost caught in the accident and hurt.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
