Rare brown hyena sighting at Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana
In all our trips to Africa this is only the second brown hyena we have ever seen and the only one we have seen well (if for a VERY short time). They are listed as “near threatened” and are very difficult to find. They are quite different from the spotted hyena and are shaggy with striped legs.
