Footage shows how Burmese resistance forces used a drone to deliver a letter urging state forces along the border to surrender.

The Karenni Army, based in the north of Myanmar, used the technology to dispatch letters enclosed in plastic bottles to seven bases located opposite the Thai border in Mae Hong Son, Thailand.

The letters conveyed a message stating that they aimed to liberate the people from the control of the rebel army led by Min Aung Hlaing, which overthrew the government in 2021.

It came as the Burmese army incurred significant losses, particularly in the northern part of Shan State, which has been reclaimed.

Troops said the letter 'served as a reminder' to the Myanmar military, urging them to fight either solely for Min Aung Hlaing or to join forces with the people.

It conveyed that there was no intention to harm them unless they chose to oppose the Karenni Army.

The message advised the army to surrender and reunite with their families, suggesting that they signify their surrender by displaying a white flag at their bases.

Resistance leaders claim the Myanmar army has diminished, although there are still areas where they continue to fight.

They said that in the current situation in Loilkaw, battling has proven challenging as Myanmar soldiers have assimilated into the local population, taken some individuals as hostages, and retaliated against the joint army.

Nevertheless, the joint army has managed to encircle the area and sever their supply routes, a move expected to compel the Myanmar soldiers to surrender soon.

Additionally, the Karenni Army discovered abandoned weapons belonging to the Myanmar army at a base near the border in Mae Hong Son.

Myanmar has fallen into civil war following the removal of democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, with a murderous military coup in 2021.

Soldiers responded with barbaric force on protesting civilians leading to widespread condemnation and financial sanctions.

Rebel groups and civilian militias around the country have since been locked in a series of ongoing clashes with the ruling military.
