Huawei actively supports Tunisia's digital transformation strategy, the General Director of Huawei Tunisia Liang Feihu said Friday, in the awards ceremony of "Huawei Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Competition 2023/2024 - Northern Africa Regional Final."
Huawei Tunisia organized this regional competition in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Communications Technology and the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO) from March 4 to March 8, in Tunisia's capital Tunis.
More than 100 university teachers and students from nine African countries including Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Senegal, Libya, Egypt, Cameroon and Mali, formed 30 teams. The winning teams will go to China to participate in the global finals this year.
The development of ICT affects the progress of the entire society, especially in the fields of health and education. The young generation plays an important role in the development of information technology. The entire world needs passion, commitment, energy and perseverance from the young generation, the Tunisian Minister of Communications Technology Nizar Ben Neji said in the ceremony.
He stressed that this event demonstrated Huawei's strong strength and its contributions to the technological development of Tunisia, as well as the entire African region.
This competition has become a source of inspirations for the young generation; the values of collaboration, excellence and innovation found in this competition are crucial to the sustainability of the information and communications industry, said Mohamed Ben Amor, the Secretary-General of AICTO.
Huawei has established strategic partnerships with more than 60 Tunisian universities and research institutions. It will train 10,000 talents familiar with 5G, cloud technology, and artificial intelligence in Tunisia in the following five years, Liang added.
