STORYLINE:

STANDUP 1 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"China aims to enhance ecological conservation and promote green and low-carbon development, according to a government work report submitted Tuesday to the national legislature for deliberation."

STANDUP 2 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"According to the report, China will push forward with the green transformation of the industrial structure, the energy mix, and the transportation sector as well as urban and rural development."

National lawmakers and political advisors have shared with us their thoughts on China's green transformation.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): ZHANG FAN, National lawmaker
"We highly prioritize the green and low-carbon industry because the new quality productive forces inherently embody ecological efficiency. To cultivate these new quality productive forces, we'll approach it from two perspectives. Firstly, we focus on the green upgrading of our traditional industries, optimizing our products for increased efficiency and energy conservation. Additionally, we strive to enhance the environmental friendliness of our products."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LU TIEZHONG, National political advisor
"Regarding nuclear power, nuclear power plants emit very little carbon dioxide. In the whole industrial chain, from the perspective of carbon dioxide emissions, nuclear power is clearly a clean energy source.
Given our country's goals for peaking carbon dioxide emissions (by 2030) and achieving carbon neutrality (by 2060), and our country's pursuit of ecological civilization and development of a 'Beautiful China,' I feel that there is significant room for further development in terms of nuclear energy."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): LIN HAO, National lawmaker
"Our township is situated at the foot of Wuzhi Mountain, the highest peak in Hainan Province. The area has a relatively low latitude but a high altitude. Leveraging its unique natural environment, we encourage the local community to cultivate large-leaf tea. Through tea cultivation, farmers can increase their income. We have consistently adhered to a path of integrating industries and ecosystems, and strived to harmonize the relationship between ecological protection, agricultural development, and green development."

Observers in various countries have spoken positively about China's push for green and low-carbon development.

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): BERNARD DEWIT, Chairman of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC)
"We are looking also at the measures China will take for the green (development). The greener the economy, the greener the country."

SOUNDBITE 5 (English): ANNA MALINDOG-UY, Vice President of the Asian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute, the Philippines
"China's push towards a greener economy is not only advancing its domestic technology and industry sectors, but also creating opportunities for international collaboration and investment. Expansion of China's green industries provides a fertile ground for global businesses to engage with, and benefit from this transition."

SOUNDBITE 6 (English): DILIP BARUA, General secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist)
"I think (China's) two sessions may create a good example, and it is also a period to formulate the new quality (productive) forces, technology, green industry. As a whole, it will create a positive impact in course of time."
