"The giant panda plays a very important role, not only in nature conservation, but also as a symbol of the friendship between the countries, between Austria and China. And I think it brings people together. We of course hope that the cooperation will continue. Austrian people love to come here, ask us how the pandas are doing and want to see them. Also, tourists who come to Vienna love to go to the zoo, especially to see the giant pandas."
Since 2003, the Schonbrunn Zoo has been one of the few zoos in the world where giant pandas live.
