A group of divers were left in awe as they witnessed a squadron of manta rays glide past them whilst underwater lights illuminated them.

Laura Grier, 45, as her group of friends entered the ocean off the coast of Hawaii's Big Island where they saw huge manta rays with 20-foot wingspans gracefully swim around.

She told Newsflare: "I was with a group of girlfriends. We always do a girls dive trip together to see some of the biggest and most incredible animals in the ocean.

"We are on a quest to swim with the largest, gentlest creatures in the ocean every year during our Pisces birthdays. These huge mantas get up to a 20 feet wingspan and only eat plankton. When you put lights under the ocean and attract the plankton, the rays will swoop in for a beautiful feeding frenzy."
