A diver in an aquarium was allegedly bitten on the head by a large fish while feeding underwater in northern China.

The video was filmed in Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province on March 8.

A diver prepared to feed the large fish with the food in a bag with his right hand, a large fish suddenly attacked from behind, biting onto the bag and refusing to let go.

After a struggle, the diver managed to retrieve the bag, but the large fish seemed undeterred. As the diver approached its head, it suddenly opened its mouth and bit the diver's head.

In response, the diver stated that the fish merely sucked on his head. "Although the fish was large in size, it didn't have teeth and mainly swallows its food," the diver said. "When it tried to swallow the bag, I quickly pulled it away. It sucked my head for a moment, but I didn't feel much."

Officials from the aquarium confirmed that they were promptly informed of the incident and stated that due to proper safety measures, the diver was unharmed.

The fish involved is a kaluga, originating from 130 million years ago, known for its aggressive nature. Kalugas are large carnivorous fish, with a length of up to 5.6 metres, weighing over 1000 kilograms, and can live for over 50 years.
