CHP received a 911 call from an employee that said his boss's work truck was stolen at the park-and-ride at Via Verde and the 57 Freeway with his boss in the open bed of the truck. The suspect entered the southbound 57 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway entering the city of Pomona. The employee was following the stolen work truck with his boss in the back of the truck while on the phone with the CHP dispatcher. The suspect exited at White Avenue from the eastbound 10 Freeway, traveled southbound on White Avenue, then crashed into an Edison pole and fence at South White Avenue and West Mission Boulevard. The victim was able to jump out of the back of the truck and run to safety as CHP officers arrived on scene. The suspect attempted to flee again, but the truck was disabled. The suspect along with his dog were taken into custody. The victim said that the suspect needed a jumpstart, and that’s when the suspect jumped into the work truck and took off. The victim told Key News Network that he had hopped into the bed immediately after the suspect got into the truck and locked the door.
