In a groundbreaking move towards advanced air mobility, Airbus has revealed its full electric CityAirbus NextGen prototype to the public in Donauworth. The two-tonne class aircraft, with a 12-metre wing span, is set to have an 80 km range and a cruise speed of 120 km/h, making it ideal for missions in major cities.

The unveiling took place at the new CityAirbus test centre in Donauworth, which will be dedicated to testing systems for electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs). This centre is part of Airbus' ongoing investment in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and will be crucial in preparing the CityAirbus NextGen for its maiden flight later this year.

Balkiz Sarihan, Head of Urban Air Mobility at Airbus, expressed gratitude to the community, team, and partners for their contributions to making the CityAirbus NextGen a reality. The prototype's unveiling marks a significant step towards the future of air mobility and Airbus' commitment to advancing the industry.

As part of its efforts to create a successful AAM market, Airbus has partnered with leading aviation company LCI to develop partnership scenarios and business models in key areas such as strategy, commercialization, and financing. This partnership strategy is aimed at building a unique ecosystem that will support the growth and viability of the AAM market.

The CityAirbus NextGen prototype represents a major milestone in Airbus' journey towards transforming urban air transportation. With continued testing and development, Airbus is paving the way for a new era of sustainable and efficient air travel.
