Peru Launches Search for Child Swept Away in Landslide

A child is missing in Peru after a landslide and heavy rainfall trigger a massive search and rescue operation.
SANTO DOMINGO DE ANDA, Peru Peruvian authorities have launched a huge search party for a missing minor who was swept away by a landslide following heavy rainfall in the Santo Domingo de Anda district.
Members of the National Police of Peru, personnel from the Volunteer Firefighters of Peru, and the district municipality have all come together to aid in the search and rescue operations for the child.
The intense rains have also caused heavy flooding in the national road section between La Oroya and Huancayo, in the Manantial area of the Curicaca district, Jauja province.
Homes and urban roads in the Bancapata, Nueva Rioja, and Victor Acosta localities have suffered significant damage due to the worsening weather, causing the Aychahuacso stream to overflow.
Authorities are utilising heavy machinery to clear out the roads and carry out rescues in the affected areas.
The search for the missing child continues as the community comes together in the face of the adversity caused by the natural disaster.
