Video from the air and ground shows a significant amount of water being released from Castaic Lake Friday to prevent dangerous overflow from excess storm runoff.

The relief spillway was activated shortly before noon to release water into the lake's lower lagoon which overflowed into Castaic Creek at Lake Hughes Road.

The lake, which serves as the last stop for water from central California, was near capacity following several storms.
