STORYLINE:

On March 12, HK Express inaugurated a new air route linking Beijing and Hong Kong.

STANDUP (English): WANG XIUNAN, Xinhua correspondent
"The new route between Beijing and Hong Kong launched by HK Express will not only provide more choices for passengers but also will build a new bond between Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area."

The new route operates between Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): MAO JIEQIONG, CEO of HK Express
"The route is operated with one round-trip every day. We have full confidence in the mainland's aviation market and hope to add more flights on this route."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LI ZIWEI, Aviation Business Department, Beijing Daxing International Airport
"After the launch of the new route, we have now about four to five round-trip flights between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Hong Kong airport on average every day. The new route will bring more convenience to those who are traveling from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to Hong Kong and even Asia."

Over 100 Hong Kong teachers and students were among the first group of travelers on the new route.

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): ZHAO HEQIAO, Hong Kong student
"What I'm most excited about Beijing Daxing International Airport is that its degree of intelligence is beyond my expectation. For example, the self-service fingerprint entry can largely reduce waiting time."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Beijing.
