A passenger arriving from abroad was intercepted at the airport in southern India’s Kerala.

The incident took place at Nedumbassery Airport in Kochi on March 12.

Visuals showed during a routine check by the airport customs team, a surprising discovery was made inside a nebulizer—a cylindrical piece of gold carefully concealed within the compressor motor.

According to reports the interception occurred at the exit gate of the airport, suggesting that authorities were alerted to the presence of something suspicious in the passenger's checked-in baggage.

Upon examination of the baggage, a nebulizer was singled out as the source of suspicion. A nebulizer is a medical device commonly used to administer medication in the form of a mist inhaled into the lungs. The nebulizer, typically innocuous, revealed an anomaly during the screening process.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that a cylindrical piece of gold, weighing 189.50 grams, was concealed inside the compressor motor of the nebulizer. This finding suggests an attempt at smuggling valuable goods through the airport. The gold was recovered and subsequently seized by the authorities.

The discovery prompts further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt. Authorities may seek to determine the individual's intentions, potential connections to broader smuggling operations, and any accomplices involved.
