Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso announced the allocation of 2.15 million bags of fertiliser worth N100b Naira to the Ministry of Agriculture and food security in Abuja.
The CBN is veering away from its initial direct quasi-physical interventions, and has transitioned towards leveraging conventional monetary policy tools for executing monetary policies. while noting that the various interventions been implemented by the bank has not been totally successful, Cardoso expressed concerns that “it is evident that in the short term, the inflationary pressures may persist predominantly because of the escalating food prices.
