This is the dramatic moment a firefighter rescues a two-year-old child that was choking on a coin.

The tot's family rushed the youngster to their local fire station in Luzania, Goias State, Brazil, on March 10, where firefighters are trained in advanced first aid.

Tense CCTV footage shows the panicked family arrive at the gates and sprint out of the car with the toddler in their arms.

As an officer takes the tot, he holds him face down and begins performing the Heimlich manoeuvre on him.

While the youngster gasps for air and reaches out to their mum, theofficer, named only as Sergeant Peixoto, continues with the procedure until the coin dropsout.

The family members are so relieved they seem to collapse, squatting on the floorin exhaustion as the clip ends.

The family later told local media that the child had found the coin on top of a piece of furniture and swallowed it without warning.
