Macaque snatches iPhone 15 Pro from woman's hand... then returns it for sweets
The extraordinary scene shows a wild macaque swiftly grabbing a woman's iPhone 15 Pro from her grasp and only giving it back when she gave it sweets as a bribe.
The incredible video, captured on Emei Mountain, a popular tourist spot in Sichuan, China, shows the animal approaching the lady on March 11.
Then in a split-second moment, it can be seen snatching the smartphone from her hands and taking the device aside to examine it, joined by another monkey.
At the end of the video, the wild animal released the phone for a brief second after the woman offered it biscuits. It then grabbed her by her sleeve and refused to let go for several seconds.
Staff at Emei Mountain said that individuals caught in similar situations should promptly contact them and refrain from engaging in conflicts with monkeys to prevent injuries.
The Emei Mountain is a World Natural and Cultural Heritage site, recognised by UNESCO as one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains.
