National Forest Driver Rescued After Car Flies Off Cliff in Los Angeles, CA, USA

The CHP and LACoFD along with Urban Search and Rescue responded to a traffic collision with a vehicle over the side about 200 to 300 feet down a canyon hillside at mile marker 6.9. The passenger in the vehicle managed to make it up the hillside to the roadway and wave down a passing vehicle. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle down the steep hillside in heavy vegetation. Los Angeles County Fire Department Chopper 11 responded to the scene to assist with the location of the vehicle and rescue. After about an hour, the victim who was trapped inside the vehicle, was freed by firefighters and airlifted out of the canyon. The passenger that was in the vehicle had minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Unknown at this time if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.
