SOUNDBITE (Arabic): TAREK EL-SONOTY, Deputy editor-in-chief of Egypt's state-run Al-Ahram newspaper
"Over the past ten years, China and its economy have witnessed an economic boom.
These achievements did not come out of nowhere; instead, they resulted from the important economic policies of the Communist Party of China, along with the cooperation and positive response of Chinese citizens toward those policies.
These economic policies have also succeeded in raising the standard of living for Chinese citizens and eliminating extreme poverty.
Many poor provinces turned to the development of industry and agriculture, experiencing a major boom. The planning and implementation of huge projects effectively moved large numbers of Chinese from poverty to the middle-income group.
There is a real feeling among the Chinese citizens of satisfaction with the policy of the Chinese government and the Communist Party of China because they feel its results and fruits in their standard of living and income.
The Chinese experience is pioneering in many fields. Countries worldwide, particularly those in the developing world and the Global South, such as Egypt, and countries in Africa, Latin America, as well as others, including some European nations, can study and learn from the Chinese experience to see how they can benefit from it."
