The Elk Grove Police Department is actively searching for a suspect responsible for setting off two explosions in the community. The incidents occurred on consecutive days, with the first explosion taking place at Jones Park on Tuesday, March 12th, and the second on Baneberry Court the following day.

The first explosion, which took place around 7:30 pm at Jones Park, was followed by a second explosion at 7:40 pm the following day at Baneberry Court. Surveillance footage captured a male suspect wearing a black hoodie riding a bicycle into the court, where he placed an explosive device in a trash bin before fleeing the scene.

Both explosions were caused by high-grade illegal commercial fireworks, and the suspect has been linked to both incidents. The explosion at Jones Park left significant damage to the park's bathroom, while the bin on Baneberry Court was also damaged.

The Elk Grove Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department at (916) 627-8097 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.
