Two young children were among the rescued migrants who were plucked from the Rio Grande river in a dramatic incident near Eagle Pass, Texas. The rescue was captured on video from the body-worn camera of a US Border Patrol agent, showing the dangerous struggle migrants face when trying to cross the river into the US.

In this particular incident, a group of undocumented migrants attempted to float across the Rio Grande on a raft, only for it to fail them, leaving them struggling to stay afloat in the raging waters. Fortunately, everyone was saved in this instance, but that is not always the case in the treacherous Rio Grande.

Deadly incidents have occurred in the river, with three migrants drowning in January and six losing their lives in Rio Grande canals in 2023. Despite the risks, crossings through the Rio Grande continue to increase, with federal officials conducting five rescues last week alone.
