Courageous Fire Crew Rescues Injured Rescuers in Fresno County, USA

In a daring rescue mission, the CAL FIRE/Fresno County Fire crew of the Sikorsky S701i Firehawk helicopter successfully saved two ground rescuers who had been injured while attempting to locate a lost hiker in challenging weather conditions.
The incident, which took place in the Riverside Unit near Hemet-Ryan, saw the crew face fast-moving winds and heavy turbulence as they made multiple attempts to reach the injured rescuers. Despite the adverse conditions, the crew's persistence paid off, and they were able to pull the rescuers to safety.
For their heroic efforts, the Hemet-Ryan crew was awarded the prestigious Sikorsky Winged Rescue Award for their March 2023 hoist rescue.
